Osteopathy varies from country to country. In the UK, the title “Osteopath” is protected by law. Anyone practicing as an Osteopath must:
- Have completed a Recognised Qualification in Osteopathy.
- Have Professional Indemnity Insurance.
- Be registered with The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
The GOsC also requires Osteopaths to keep up to date with their knowledge by completing at least 30 hours of Continued Professional Development a year. The Osteopathic Practice Standards are in place to maintain the profession.
